Amy Grant’s 1984 Billboard hit “Thy Word” has been a tune sung in my heart since I was a little girl. My parents inscribed Psalm 119:15 in the Study Bible they gave me while I was in college. But, as a young woman, it was the lyrics of “Jesus Loves Me” that molded my heart. I grew up as a pastor’s kid (PK). Tragedy struck days after my 29th birthday when my dad died from an unsuccessful bone marrow transplant to resolve his leukemia. As a single woman in deep grief, while I struggled to understand God’s plans, I knew He loved me because the Bible told me so!
I am now in my twelfth year of marriage and the mother of three children, ages 10, 8, and 2. Currently, I am a full-time caretaker and an advocate for our youngest, who has Down syndrome. I will be forever grateful for the role Scripture has played in my life through seasons of trials and joy.
