Right and Wrong?

July 25, 2020 by Holly Filed Under: Series 3 Comments

Please Note: The mission of Study With Friends is: “to help you grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ through the fellowship of bible study and the careful examination of your faith.” The gospel is central to our work and mission. We believe that scripture calls us to first share the good news of what Jesus Christ has done to reconcile and redeem all of his followers. We also believe that scripture speaks a clear message of biblical justice and that we are called to support the disadvantaged, underprivileged and oppressed and defend life. We believe in racial equality and that black lives matter indeed, however any statements that were made in this series should not be confused with support for the Black Lives Matter Foundation, or a partner organization, Movement for Black Lives (M4BL), which espouse agendas which we believe are not in line with scripture.

This is the first of two series’ on justice. This first one is called ‘Right and Wrong” and we examine how the world sees right and wrong and how justice follows that line of thinking. The second will be called ‘Understanding Biblical Justice’ and we will look at what the bible has to say on these matters.  Consider doing both series for a full scope of biblical justice.

With all that’s happening culturally this year it’s more important than ever to study and discuss how we can reach the culture for Christ.  We will be starting outside the Bible, because that’s where you will find your friends and families who don’t yet have a biblical worldview. We used Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis to jump into this conversation.   You can read that for free below. Join Holly, Gianna, Caitlin, and Marilyn as they discuss tools that you can use to help engage those around you.

Read Mere Christianity here.

Hi Tamara! Thanks for your comments, it’s great feedback in both cases. This topic is so ripe for cultural conversations right now. Thanks for letting us know you are studying with us.

Sometimes people do lose their seat on the bus. It’s not safe to get up and move around when the bus is moving, so was the bus moving? There are so many factors. This is why it’s impossible to judge what exactly happened in videos they share on the news. We cannot judge our opinion based on what they show on the news.

I’m probably the only one, but the music is distracting. Maybe make it quieter. This sounds like a good topic to discuss because when each party listens to the other, that’s when we make progress.
