This week we continue with the concept of how and when we might use God’s Word in everyday life. We start by how we sometimes carelessly use God’s name in vain, which reminds us that we have to sort out our words in general even as we try to use God’s words more powerfully. We cover the importance of memorizing scripture, for our own use and for use when we comfort or advise others. We mention a few scriptures in this context, Jeremiah 33:3 and Micah 7:8.
Then we move to this weeks core scripture, 1 Cor 2:13 and using God’s word as we are directed by the Holy Spirit.
Towards the end of this broadcast we begin a group workshop on how to find relevant scripture for whatever we have going on in our life. This exercise will help us learn how, in the most practical way, to use God’s Word in everyday life. We used the resource “Where to find it in the Bible” by Ken Anderson, and strongly recommend this resource for your home library. You can find the homework here:
Using God’s Word in Everyday Life
*This ministry starts as a Bible study recorded in Holly’s house. We love the intimacy that creates and hope you feel the comradery we experience together. However, the recording equipment we used during this particular series (early in the life of the ministry) picked up the dog barking…barking a lot. We extend our apologies for that sound quality issue. Maybe we will put his picture and bio on the page next time, he sure had a lot to say.
