What Does It Mean to Know The Bible

February 21, 2015 by Holly Filed Under: Series Leave a Comment

Our group of friends was beautifully varied throughout this series, which we are calling “Knowing the Bible.”  This series is broken down to three segments, What does it mean to know the Bible, Why is it important to know the Bible, and How do we know the Bible.

This study is taken from a larger book called ‘Write These Words Upon Your Heart” which you can find in our resources.

The first few segments are from our first recording EVER, so please have some grace for the sound quality.  The friends in this segment of the series are Romy, Leigh Ann and Holly.

In the first session of the series, “What does it mean to know the Bible?” we learn that some people can know the Bible, even observe the “laws” found within, without understanding the spirit of the Word, which is Jesus.  We explore what it meant to know God’s word in the Old and New Testament times and we discuss some mistakes believers can make when approaching scripture.  Then we move on to ask whether someone can have a relationship with Jesus and NOT know the Bible.  What consequences could result?

The second session of the series, “Why is important to know the Bible” gives some concrete reasons for (and results of) knowing the Bible. You will hear some faithful women give testimony to why it is important to them personally.  Then we are asking some hard questions and really digging in.

Finally we will chat about “How do we know the Bible” and tackle some really practical ways to get in there.  This is a great session for beginners and mature Christians alike, as we will take a workshop approach and give tools for independent study.

We love to hear from you!  Please add to our understanding, ask a question or make a comment below.
