Faith in Light of Covid-19
I know of no one who was not impacted by Covid-19 in his or her life. For some of us, Covid had a significant impact on our faith.
Continue ReadingCelebrating God’s Will in Advent
During the season of Advent, Christians across the world prepare for the celebration of the birth of God’s Son, Jesus Christ. Advent is a time to celebrate light in the midst of darkness. The Gospel of Luke chapters 1 and 2 provide a rich context for us to draw inspiration from as we use this […]
Continue ReadingThat You May Have Certainty
Christianity is more than just “faith” for me, it’s the lens or worldview through which to view life. I do not consider it a “choice” to believe, since it is inextricably linked with reality. I believe that Christianity is the best way to understand the world: it explains tangible and intangible reality including science, nature, human nature, morality, beauty, and Truth.

I have incredible admiration for Mary, the mother of Jesus. Her obedience and courage inspire me. She had the incredible privilege of being the mother of the Son of God, but in accepting this blessed role, she also accepted a life of scandal and grief.

After seven years, my cancer returned. I was aware that my particular type of cancer had a tendency to recur, so I was not shocked, just disappointed; but also grateful that I was under the care of a knowledgeable and vigilant physician who was right on top of things. Continue ReadingReflections on the Burqa
Recently I saw a picture of Afghan women dressed in the traditional burqa, and it tore my heart. To me, wearing of the burqa represents oppression. For the past twenty years, under democratic rule, women of Afghanistan have been able to go to school and to hold jobs.

I teach all forms of fitness and have for over 20 years. In my younger years, I had the freedom to bump around from place to place, teaching any format at any time. Time moved on and as I got older, daytime work changed from 9-5 working in an office to 12-12 living as a stay-at-home mom. Therefore, the way I taught classes needed to change too.

That’s the kind of trust I want to have with my good Father, God. I want to let Him worry about what is happening on the beach of life around me.
