Thoughts on Light
One of my high school history teachers talked about an experience he had in basic training in the military. He said that one recruit was sent out a good distance from the other soldiers on a dark night, and nobody could see him or tell where he was. The recruit lit one cigarette, and immediately everyone knew exactly where he was.

Happy New Year!! It’s a new beginning. It’s the perfect opportunity to start that fitness program, work toward the promotion, volunteer more, or finally learn how to stop killing houseplants. It’s a chance to “get right” all of the things we “got wrong” last year…but what if we don’t?

We all know that one person: That one person whose kids are better than ours. That one person who has a bigger house. That one person whose marriage seems more solid than ours. That one person who’s prettier, smarter, craftier, more theological, who can be it all for everyone.
